The Vampire Diaries’ forthcoming season finale will feature its beloved former star.
Nina Dobrev will return as Elena for The Vampire Diaries’ final episode, following reports that the CW drama’s forthcoming eighth season will be its last.
Dobrev teased her upcoming appearance in a candle-lit Instagram snap of her script for the final episode, titled “I Was Feeling Epic.”
“I know it’s Thursday, but this is not a TBT. #BackOnSet #TVDForever” she wrote in the caption.
Dobrev left the show at the end of its sixth season in 2015, after six years of starring as the normal girl-turned-vampire Elena Gilbert.
“It’s so rare for a show to get to last this long, and what a privilege that (CW heads) Mark Pedowitz and Peter Roth have allowed us to choose the time to end the journey on our own creative terms,” Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec told critics about the show’s finale at TCA last year. “It’s been eight of the best years of my life. I will miss it terribly, but I’m so proud to be here to see it to its proper end.”
